I loved Tale of Two Cities. I found the characters of Sydney Carton and Charles Darney fantastic. I haven’t read Great Expctations though.

It’s been a really long time since I read this but I remember feeling incredibly satisfied when I got to the end.

This was by far the worst book I have ever read. I think at the time he was getting paid per word which equals a verbose masterpiece.

brownhound answered:
I read it in high school and absolutely hated it although I do like a lot of Dickens’ other work.

I agree with everyone so far. Stick with it. It will be worth it, promise.

Less intimate/more epic than most Dickens. I prefer Great Expectations too, though “Recalled to Life” is a sweet title

At first, it’s INCREDIBLY slow. Like Tolstoy or Dostoevsky, gets much better in the second half.

It is definitely worth it. Examining that book in high school is why I wound up being an English major. Stick with it! :)

A Tale of Two Cites is my favorite from Dickens. Take your time with it because it’s a bit slow in the beginning but worth it in the end.

animaginaryfriend answered:
I read it freshman year of high school. It took me half the book to get into it, but then it became UNBELIEVABLY GOOD. So keep reading. :)
